SUNstainability ~ Our Fun Term For Eco Friendly
At Sunshine + Saltwater, living an eco friendly lifestyle isn’t just a choice—it’s part of our mission. Every day, I make small decisions that create a positive impact on our world. 🌎 From packaging to production, I believe every little act adds up to HUGE results, and I’m proud to share some of the ways I stay true to that promise.
Everyday Eco Friendly Habits 🌞🌊
-
Turn off the light when you leave a room and switch to LED bulbs (except for your Easy Bake Oven—still need the old school ones 🤣).
-
Cut every plastic 6-pack ring so wildlife doesn’t choke or get caught in them.
-
Use reusable bags or recycle the ones you already have.
-
Ship products in eco friendly bags or recycled boxes.
-
Create made-to-order garments to help reduce textile waste.
-
Order from local small businesses to cut down on shipping emissions.
-
Take a bag with you on beach walks to pick up trash—it may not be your trash, but it’s YOUR planet. 🌍
Even the smallest daily actions add up and make a real difference in keeping our oceans and beaches clean.
Eco Friendly Beach Tips 🏖️
Heading to the beach? Here’s how to keep your trip sustainable and fun:
Take Out What You Take In
Leave only footprints. That means bottles, cans, and even cigarette butts should go back with you. (Check out the Surfrider Foundation’s “Hold Onto Your Butt” campaign for more info!)
Avoid Single-Use Plastic
Skip plastic straws, water bottles, and grocery bags whenever possible. A reusable water bottle is the easiest (and most eco friendly) swap you can make.
Always Bring a Garbage Bag
Make it a beach essential. Trash bins aren’t always close by, so having a bag makes it easy to clean up after yourself (and maybe even others).
Use Ocean + Reef Safe Sunscreen
Mineral sunscreen is a great eco friendly option that keeps your skin safe while protecting coral reefs and marine life.
Support Local Eco Friendly Organizations
Groups like the Surfrider Foundationwork tirelessly to keep beaches and oceans clean. You can help by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.
Why It Matters 🌊
For me, protecting the beaches and waterways isn’t optional—it’s everything. The ocean is my happy place, and I want to do all I can to keep it safe, clean, and thriving for generations to come. That’s why I create eco friendly products, package them sustainably, and share ways for all of us to do a little better each day.
So—what small acts do YOU do to support our oceans and beaches?
